Dear Parents and Portal Students,
Congratulations to all of the students for a FANTASTIC Geology Rocks performance! All of your hard work and effort really paid off! It was such a pleasure to watch you. We’re so proud of all of you!
Here we are now, in the last week of school before vacation! We have a lot of activities going on at school - both social and academic. Please be sure to take a minute and check in with your child on how they’re doing!
Fine Arts Performance News:
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of the parents that helped with everything that made our performance a roaring success! A special thanks to Cathy Cuyle for designing the program and Ayse Guler and Cathy Cuyle for creating and coordinating the development of the backdrop. Thank you to Varsha Niak and Ching Bays for finding and organizing all of the props and costumes. Thank you to Judy Hart for being in charge of the refreshments and Michael Bays for attending each performance to work the lights.
Mega Skill of the Month - Initiative!
Initiative can be defined as the readiness and ability to be the one to start something. For each of our students, initiative can be shown by enthusiastically beginning any necessary task: class work, homework, chores around the house, personal cleanliness, good manners, etc. The point is to be ready to begin and to DO IT! Especially in this holiday season, taking the initiative to do the next right thing is something that everyone can appreciate.
Essay in Social Studies:
Students are currently working on finishing rough drafts and peer editing in class. Some students spent the day editing and getting their work edited and should begin typing their final copy tonight. All rough drafts should be finished by tomorrow, so they can be peer edited in time to get the final copy turned in by Thursday. We will be working on bibliography structure in class tomorrow.
